Scott Pye

Scott Pye #2

Scott Pye joins Mobil1 HSV Racing in 2017 and with him he brings a resume packed with a list of prestigious racing achievements.

Pye came through the ranks of karts and Formula Ford and at a young age enjoyed much success in motorsport in Australian and internationally.

His first stint in Formula Ford was in 2007 when he raced in the State Series for Borland Racing Developments.

The following year he moved up to the Australian Formula Ford Championship and finished 7th in his first year and 3rd in his second year in the category.

Pye’s international career began when he joined fellow Australian Nathan Antunes in the European Technique team for the 2008/2009 Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand.

In his first event at Ruapuna he claimed 3rd place and a win, and took home the Wigram Cup. His form continued and he went on to win the second round of the category as well.

Pye then moved to the UK in 2010 where claimed the British Formula Ford Championship with an impressive 14 race wins and 19 pole positions for Jamum Racing. He was quickly promoted to the Formula 3 Championship the following year.

Pye claimed a race win and finished in 10th in the championship in his first year in Formula 3 - a category which produced drivers such as Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard.

After a long stint in the UK, Pye returned home in 2012 to race for Triple 8 in the Development Series. His performance in his first year was stunning, picking up two race wins and multiple podiums. He finished 2nd overall in the Championship.

That same year, Pye made his debut in the main game alongside Taz Douglas in the Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport (LDM) #30 Commodore.

Another milestone in Pye’s career came in 2013 when he was handed a full-time drive with LDM, and despite the team’s disappointing result for the year, Pye showed potential by finishing 6th at the Bathurst 1000.

In 2014 Pye signed with Dick Johnson Racing. He stayed on with the team as a co-driver in 2015 but took over full-time driving duties from Marcos Ambrose just three events into the season. It was just the chance he needed to prove he had the goods, picking up his first podium position in Supercars that year.

He scored two more podium positions and his first ever poles position for the team in 2016, before announcing his three-year deal with Walkinshaw commencing in 2017.

Fitness is an important part of Pye’s life so when he’s not in a Supercar you can usually find him on his mountain bike or at a CrossFit gym.
