Warren Luff #2 Co-Driver
Warren Luff will partner with new-recruit Scott Pye for the 2017 endurance season in the #2 Mobil1 HSV Racing Commodore. He is no stranger to the Walkinshaw family having been a co-driver for the team in since 2014.
Luff is one of the most sort after co-drivers in Supercars as he is the only driver to have won the PIRTEK Enduro Cup twice.
He is the son of well-known driver instructor Ian Luff and is one of the few drivers who did not started his career in karts. Instead he kicked-off his motorsport career in the early 1990s in the Improved Production category before progressing to the Australian Super Touring Championship in 1997 and 1998.
His Supercars debut was in 1999 at the Queensland 500 when he was co-driver with Alan Heath, but his biggest achievement that year was winning the Australian Mitsubishi Cup. He won it for a second time in 2000.
Having already proved himself as an established driver, Luff was twice crowned the V8 Ute Australian Champion in 2002 and 2003. During this time, he was also a co-driver with Cameron McConville then Steve Johnson the Supercars endurance series.
Luff’s first full-time drive in Supercars was with Dick Johnson Racing (DJR) in 2004. He did multiple co-driving stints with DJR between 2008 and 2010, but not before co-driving with Marcos Ambrose in 2005, driving full-time with Britek in 2006, and co-driving for Britek in 2007.
2005 was a big year for Luff who also finished runner-up in the Development Series driving for Paul Cruickshank Racing.
After a strong performance with DJR in 2010, Luff scored a full-time-drive in 2011 in the #30 Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport Commodore.
In 2012 Luff returned to co-driver duties and won the Sandown 500 and placed 3rd at the Bathurst 1000 alongside Craig Lowndes. In that same year Luff won the World Time Attack driving the famed ‘Nemo’ evo.
Luff claimed his first PIRTEK Enduro Cup victory in 2013 with Craig Lowndes.
In 2014 Luff joined the Walkinshaw family for the first time driving with Garth Tander in the endurance season. Luff was lucky to walk away from a huge crash at the Bathurst 1000 when he suffered brake failure at turn two.
The following year Luff picked up his second PIRTEK Enduro Cup trophy and even though he and Tander didn’t win any races, their consistency and multiple podium positions saw them claim the top prize.
Tander and Luff teamed up for a third time in 2016 and it was a partnership that proved successful, winning the Sandown 500.
Aside from Supercars, Luff has also competed in the Carerra Cup in 2013 and 2014 placing 3rd and 2nd consecutively in the championship. He also won the Bathurst 12 Hour back in 2011 driving with Craig Lowndes.
Away from the track he has a multitude of extracurricular activities which keep him busy. He is currently a stunt driver and the Stunt Show’s Manager at Movieworld on the Gold Coast. He is a driver coach with McElrea Racing and is a high-performance vehicle test driver and track tester for Motoring Magazine.
